Education/Catechesis
Sunday School: Classes for all ages begin at 9:30 am. The
children meet first in the chapel for opening, then proceed to
their classrooms.
Pastor's Class: Sunday morning at 9:30 am. Various topics
and books of the Bible are studied. Meets in the Social Hall.
Adult Instruction: Come join Pastor Onken and learn about
the basics of the Christian faith. There is no obligation to
become a member of our congregation at the conclusion of the
class. Call the church office for times and schedule.
Youth Confirmation: See the information below in the section
titled "Confirmation."
Monday Morning Ladies' Bible Study: 9:30 am in the
Council Room.
Men's Bible Breakfast: Meets Wednesday mornings at 7 am
at Fanny's Restaurant in Marysville.
Wednesday Night Ladies' Bible Study: 7 pm at the church.
Does not meet during Advent and Lent.
Vacation Bible School: Usually scheduled in mid-July. Check
the church calendar for more information. You may call to
register your child several weeks prior to Vacation Bible School
or register online by clicking here.

What is confirmation? Confirmation is a public rite of the
church preceded by a period of instruction designed to help
baptized Christians identify with the life and mission of the
Christian community ... Prior to admission to the Lord’s
Supper, it is necessary to be instructed in the Christian faith (1
Cor. 11:28). The rite of confirmation provides an opportunity
for the individual Christian, relying on God’s promise given in
Holy Baptism, to make a personal public confession of the faith
and a lifelong pledge of fidelity to Christ. (From question 306 in
Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanation)
Who & When: Students who have just finished the 6th grade
will begin their catechesis in the summer following the school
year. Class sessions will meet twice a week from June-August
for two successive summers. During the school year, there
may be periodic gatherings for the confirmation students to
worship, learn, and connect. In addition, two book reports will
be done during the school year as part of the confirmation
instruction. The Rite of Confirmation will take place during the
10:30 Divine Service on Reformation Sunday (the Sunday on
or prior to Oct. 31) following the second summer of instruction.
Curriculum: One summer’s instruction will consist of an
overview of the Bible and God’s salvation history, with
reference to Luther’s Small Catechism. The other summer will
strictly consist of a study of the Six Chief Parts of the Small
Catechism.
