Education/Catechesis
Pastor's Class: Sunday morning at 9:15 am. Various topics
and books of the Bible are studied. Meets in the Social Hall.
Adult Instruction: Come join Pastor Onken and learn about
the basics of the Christian faith. There is no obligation to
become a member of our congregation at the conclusion of the
class. Call the church office for times and schedule.
Youth Confirmation: See the information below in the section
titled "Confirmation."
Monday Morning Ladies' Bible Study: 9:30 am in the
Council Room. Taught by Millie Molenda.
Men's Bible Breakfast: Meets Wednesday mornings at 7 am
at Fanny's Restaurant in Marysville.
Wednesday Night Ladies' Bible Study: 7 pm at the Nolte's
home. Taught by Julie Onken. Does not meet during Advent
and Lent.
Vacation Bible School: Held during the evenings of one of
the weeks in July. See the church calendar for more
information. You may call to register your child several weeks
prior to Vacation Bible School.

Confirmation
What is confirmation? Confirmation is a public rite of the
church preceded by a period of instruction designed to help
baptized Christians identify with the life and mission of the
Christian community ... Prior to admission to the Lord’s
Supper, it is necessary to be instructed in the Christian faith (1
Cor. 11:28). The rite of confirmation provides an opportunity
for the individual Christian, relying on God’s promise given in
Holy Baptism, to make a personal public confession of the faith
and a lifelong pledge of fidelity to Christ. (From question 306 in
Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanation)
Who & When: Students who have just finished the 7th grade
will begin their catechesis in the summer following the school
year. Class sessions will meet twice a week from June-August
for two successive summers. There will also be two retreats
during the school year as part of the confirmation instruction.
The Rite of Confirmation will take place during the 10:30 Divine
Service on Reformation Sunday (the Sunday prior to Oct. 31)
following the second summer of instruction.
Curriculum: One summer’s instruction will consist of an
overview of the Bible and God’s salvation history, with
reference to Luther’s Small Catechism. The other summer will
strictly consist of a study of the Six Chief Parts of the Small
Catechism.
